Description of library facilities: In addition to the main Margaret Clapp library,which also houses special collections (rare books) and archives, Wellesley has four additional libraries: Science, Art, Music, and Astronomy. The total collection has 1.3 million volumes and 2,500 active periodical subscriptions.
Museums in proximity: The Science Center's equipment includes an X-ray diffractometer, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometers, electron microscopes, and argon and dye lasers. The Davis Museum & Cultural Center's extensive collections and exhibitions distinguished the Davis as one of the leading art museums and cultural institutions of the Greater Boston area. Whitin Observatory has three permanent telescopes: 6-inch and 12-inch Alvan Clark refractors and a 24-inch telescope. The Margaret C. Ferguson Greenhouses, the Alexandra Botanic Gardens, and the Hunnewell Arboretum contain one of the largest teaching collections of plants in the Northeast.
