Description of library facilities: Webster University???s new five-story Emerson Library, completed in 2003, is centrally located in the University???s academic corridor and features the latest in information technology, including multimedia facilities, a reference/electronic commons, an electronic classroom, and a 24-hour cybercaf??. Emerson Library has seating for over 700 in a variety of individual and group study spaces. All study and reading spaces, including 20 group study rooms, are wired for Internet access, and wireless access is also available in selected library areas. Special Collections of the library include the Harry James Cargas Literature and Holocaust Collection, the Henrietta Maizner Hochschild Children's Literature Collection, the University Archives, and a well-developed and maintained Curriculum Collection. The library is also home to the University???s Faculty Development Center, which includes the latest multi-media equipment and resources to assist faculty in enhancing teaching and learning. The library is open 94 hours per week and is accessible, physically and through adaptive equipment and software, to those with disabilities. Passports (http://library.webster.edu/newdesign), Webster University's virtual library, integrates online databases, Internet resources, and library services for student and faculty research. Passports is available worldwide 24/7 to Webster???s students, faculty, and staff worldwide from campus, home, or office. Passports includes the library???s online catalog, over 100 databases with access to over 23,000 full-text journals and other resources, and online services such as electronic reserves, document delivery, video reservations, and reference assistance. The library is a charter member of MOBIUS, which is a statewide consortium of 60 university and colleges and two large public library systems in Missouri. Students and faculty in Missouri have direct borrowing privileges (either electronically or in-person) at all of these libraries, whose combined collection totals over 25 million volumes. A daily delivery system and cooperative collection development make this a key resource for students and faculty. For materials not owned by the MOBIUS institutions, the library offers interlibrary loan from libraries through OCLC.
Museums in proximity: The Loretto-Hilton Center on the Webster campus is home to the St. Louis Repertory Theatre and Opera Theatre of St. Louis, in whose productions Webster Fine Arts students participate. The Community Music School of Webster University (formerly the St. Louis Symphony Community Music School) also resides on the Webster Groves campus.
