Museums in proximity: Beckman Institute for Advanced Science & Technology (cultivates leading-edge, interdisciplinary research of the highest quality. Research at the Institute is focused around three scientific and technologically relevant research initiatives: Biological Intelligence; Human-Computer Intelligent Interaction; and Molecular and Electronic Nanostructures), National Center for Supercomputing Applications (develops, deploys, and supports cyberinfrastructure), Siebel Computer Science Center, William R. & Clarice V. The property which is located just outside of Monticello, Illinois consists of 1,500 acres of formal gardens, nature areas, and his manor house. In keeping with Robert Allerton's original concept, the estate is used as a conservation area devoted to education, research, and recreation.
